Challenge
Developing a fully automated assembly line for LiDAR sensors that consist of several different components, e.g. a membrane, rotor, connector and brackets. Additionally, the line should perform a leakage test of the automatic
assembled sensors.
A LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) sensor is a sensor that measures the distance to objects using laser beams. It emits laser pulses that are reflected by objects in the environment. The time it takes for the light to return to the sensor is measured and used to calculate the distance.
Developing a Solution
Leveraging its in-house expertise in key technologies—ranging from feeding systems and component assembly to PCB handling and leakage testing—HAHN Automation Group developed a customized solution that met all
functional and quality requirements. By applying Virtual Commissioning early in the development phase, the project lead time was significantly reduced.
The solution is designed for global scalability, with several identical lines scheduled for deployment in customer plants across Germany, Mexico, and China. Our deep know-how in assembly and robotics technologies was key to
delivering an efficient, flexible, and future-ready production system.
